Privacy, data retention, and cookies

SpeedTribe is built to satisfy modern privacy expectations and advertising policies, including the Google Publisher Policies for AdSense. We minimize data collection and give you direct control over stored records.

  • Local-first storage. Raw test results stay in your browser using IndexedDB. Clearing history or using the Reset button erases them immediately.
  • Limited telemetry. We collect anonymized metrics—such as aggregate throughput, latency bands, and the chosen server region—to improve network coverage. IP addresses are truncated before analysis and never sold.
  • Cookie usage. Only essential cookies are used for language and theme preferences. If ad networks require additional cookies, explicit consent dialogs will appear in jurisdictions where the ePrivacy Directive applies.
  • User rights. Contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of any server-side logs that may incidentally reference you. We respond within 30 days and honor GDPR, CCPA, and LGPD requests.
  • Security. All assets load over HTTPS with HSTS, and we audit third-party libraries regularly.

We continually review policies to ensure eligibility for quality ad demand while respecting user consent.

Advertising, disclosures, and acceptable use

To remain compliant with AdSense and other monetization platforms, we commit to honest placement, clear disclosures, and safeguards against fraudulent activity.

  • Ad placement. Display ads, when enabled, will never obscure the test UI or force clicks. Units stay below the fold or in dedicated rail spaces.
  • No incentivized clicks. Users are never asked to interact with ads to unlock tests or features. SpeedTribe remains free and fully functional regardless of ad engagement.
  • Quality content. The educational material on this page is maintained and updated so the site offers value beyond the speed widget—an essential quality signal for ad networks.
  • Brand safety. We filter user-generated text in logs and test names, enforce HTTPS, and avoid prohibited content categories such as malware, hate speech, or adult material.
  • Measurement integrity. Automated or scripted runs that attempt to inflate ad impressions are blocked. Network administrators can request whitelisting for corporate load testing via the contact form below.

If you ever notice an advertisement that violates these principles, contact us immediately so we can remove it and notify the provider.
