How SpeedTribe measures your connection
Our test engine runs entirely in your browser using HTTPS so you never need to install native software. Each run follows a transparent sequence that mirrors modern throughput standards while keeping payloads cache-safe.
- Environment checks. We resolve your IP, ASN, and approximate geography to suggest the best test path while also noting VPN use or carrier-grade NAT that could impact results.
- Latency calibration. A series of quick requests measures baseline round-trip time, jitter, and packet loss to set expectations before sustained transfers begin.
- Download exercise. Multiple parallel HTTP streams pull randomized chunks with cache-busting tokens so CDN layers cannot shortcut the measurement. Dynamic ramping adapts to the highest stable bandwidth your connection can sustain.
- Upload exercise. Once downstream testing finishes, we reverse the flow with the same concurrency strategy to understand upstream capacity, including how congestion control responds under load.
- Analysis and reporting. We calculate peak, average, and median values, estimate bufferbloat based on latency drift, and store a summarized record in your browser so you can export or delete it at any time.
Because the methodology is published, network engineers, regulators, and advertisers alike can audit the workflow—an important requirement for AdSense readiness.
